BDL 3 Inch Wide Belt Drive Kits with Motor Plates for Electric Start Shovelhead Models

Heavy-duty billet motor plate locks the transmission and engine together and includes a starter housing that lines up perfectly with the ring gear. Some of the kits are available with an optional oil filter mount centered in the motor plate. The fanning condition caused by the spinning pulleys and belt creates extra cooling for the filter, and the kit allows the oil lines to be hidden out of the way. Kits include a 3 Inch belt, polished one-piece billet aluminum motor plate, double-row sealed mainshaft bearing, polished aluminum side plate, and a BDL clutch with a polished pressure plate and Barnett Kevlar clutch plates. Installation requires purchase of additional parts and modification to existing parts. Some of the kits include a BDL black powder-coated starter. These kits fit Shovelhead models with 4-speed ratchet top transmissions from 1970-early 1979. Note 1: Installation requires use of a 1991 or later starter motor, and the use of a late 1979 or later clutch arm (CCI #18-430) which must be modified to provide adequate clearance. Note 2: FX models require removal of the OEM oil tank bracket to allow proper starter fitment. Note 3: No provision is made for footpegs or floorboards with these kits.
